1Who we are
Wird is a free app that helps a Muslim keep a daily, monthly and yearly wird: prayer times, Quran, adhkar and hadith. It is developed by wird-app.com. This policy explains what is stored of your data, where, when the app connects to the internet, and how you control all of it.
2What is stored on your device — and only on your device
Wird has no servers to receive your data and no database to collect it in. Everything below is stored inside the app’s space on your device and never leaves it unless you export it yourself:
- How you introduce yourself — the name, gender and age you enter at the start; their only purpose is for the app to address you appropriately, and you may change or delete them whenever you wish.
- The local account — if you create one with an email or phone number, the password is stored hashed one way (SHA-256 with a random salt), so it can neither be read nor recovered, and the email or number is never sent to anyone.
- Your wird — what you completed each day, the counters, the tasbih, and the monthly and yearly plans.
- Your reading — your place in the Mushaf and tafsir, your marks, and the hadiths you saved.
- Your settings — language, appearance, calculation method and reminders.
- Your saved location and city name, and the last weather state.
- A log of the reminders you received, and the books you downloaded for offline reading.
3Permissions, and why we ask
No permission is requested until it is needed; all of them are optional, and the app works without them:
- Location — to calculate prayer times, the Qibla direction and the weather where you are. If you do not grant it, you choose your city yourself from the list at the start.
- Notifications — so the adhan, iqamah and adhkar reach you on time.
- Motion sensors — so the Qibla dial turns with your phone.
- Vibration — a light touch with the tasbih and on completing your wird; it can be switched off.
You can withdraw any permission at any time from your device’s settings.
4When the app connects to the internet
Most of Wird works offline: the Mushaf, the two Sahihs, Hisn al-Muslim, the tafsirs and the adhan are built in. It connects only in the cases below, and in none of them does it send your name, your account or your wird to anyone:
As with any internet connection, these parties receive your network address (IP) and the type of your device or browser. Each has its own privacy policy, over which we have no control. If you would rather the app connected to nothing at all, turn off the internet: your whole wird keeps working.
5What we never do
- We show no ads, and we allow no one else to show them.
- We use no analytics or tracking tools, no advertising identifiers, and no tracking cookies.
- We do not sell, rent or share data — we hold none of it.
- We do not read your contacts, your photos or your files.
6Sharing, rating and links
When you tap “Share the app”, your device’s share sheet opens, and whatever you send after that is governed by the app you choose. The rate button opens the app’s page in your device’s store. Links to external sites — such as book sources — are governed by their owners’ policies.
7Children
Wird is suitable for all ages and collects no one’s data, young or old. An age, if entered, stays on the device so that a young user is addressed appropriately. We advise parents to accompany those under thirteen in using it.
8The safety of your data
Your data is protected by the protection of your device itself, so keep a lock on it. Anyone who opens your unlocked device may see what is on it. And because your data is not with us, we cannot restore it if the app is deleted or the device is lost — so keep a copy with “Export my data” if it matters to you.
9Your control over your data
- Access and portability — “Settings → Account → Export my data” gives you everything stored in a single file.
- Correction — from your account page and settings at any time.
- Deletion — “Settings → Account → Delete the account and all data” erases everything from the device immediately and permanently. Deleting the app erases it too.
10Changes to this policy
If what the app does with your data changes, we will change this page and the date at the top of it, and we will tell you inside the app if the change is material. We will not begin collecting your data without telling you and asking you first.
